Stagehands Productions (our children’s theatre) has performing opportunities for children ages 6-17 in the South Metro area.  Our performance based program encourages students to develop artistic, social and personal skills through the exploration of their own creativity and expression.  Our course cultivates stage presence, performance technique and an appreciation of the performing arts.  This creative environment nurtures children’s natural gifts and develops the strengths critical to theatrical performances, such as character development, vocalization, focusing on diction and projection, memorization and choreography.

Rehearsals are Monday through Friday (except for 1st day which is on a Tuesday!) beginning July 6, 2010 from 12 noon to 4pm.  Auditions are held during the second session.  Additional fees are charged to attend performances (Adults $6; Kids $5), however each cast member will receive two complimentary tickets to one performance.

The Music Man is an American musical classic, following fast-talking traveling salesman Harold Hill and his visit to River City, Iowa where he meets and falls in love with the willful, spinster librarian, Marian Paroo.  With his word-a-second style, “Professor” Harold Hill convinces the town to adopt his revolutionary music program, “The Think System”, or face the moral decline of the youngsters of River City. Chaos ensues as Hill’s credentials are questioned and he is forced to prove himself to the citizens of River City.

The Music Man, Jr. is the perfect production for young people. Featuring star turns for a young male and female performer, The Music Man is also rich with great roles for performers of every level. In fact, the show features over 24 speaking roles, meaning lots of features for young performers.  In this intensive production, you will enjoy the opportunity to learn while being part of a real theatrical experience. Each session will be action-packed to develop your dance, vocal, and acting techniques.  Games and other activities have been developed to help enhance the experience and make it one to remember for years.  Dance shoes are recommended but not required.
